Our Projects

1. Defy Ageism - Senior Fitness Project

Funded by the ESDC to fight senior ageism.

The South Sudan Multicultural Council (SSMC) plays a pivotal role in community intergration of the South Sudanese People here in Edmonton. The outlined projects aim to fight and defy Senior ageism by:

1) Seniors Fitness Mobile Phone videos

2) Health & Entertainment Podcast – discussing issues from organic traditional diets and recipes for healthy eating all the way to folklores, news and dissermination of useful information

3) Website – for Seniors mental and physical Well being. It also includes rolling out The Seniors Canada magazine which deals with all aspects of a South Sudanese senior’s life.

2. Seniors Canada Newsletter Project

Funded by the ESDC to disserminate useful information to Seniors.

A digital publication to capacitate seniors in Canada and make them the health tool “mouthpieces”. It features stories,  heathy food/ diet tips and recipes on the SSMC Website. The digital magazine is also shareable to effectively impactaudiences beyond Edmonton.

3. The Food Bank & Resettlement Project

Funded by the ESDC to assist in resettling and feeding refugees from South Sudan war zones.

The SSMC plays a pivotal role in community integration of the South Sudanese People here in Edmonton, through Poverty alleviation projects, a quarterly Food Bank Drive to assist the poor, the Seniors and needy of the Sudanese community and have been instrumental in poverty alleviation projects and elder abuse prevention.

4. Senior Health Podcast

Funded by the ESDC to entertain and inform seniors in all aspects of aged life.

A health podcast discussing lifestyle, nutrition, fitness, and other health-related topics affecting seniors in Edmonton, Canada. Audio content produced covers personal experiences about specific conditions or diseases to further specific talking points.

5. 2023- Canada Summer Job Project (CSJ)

Funded by the ESDC for 3 Students placements within our organisation.

Our organisation does a lot of community work and we need all the help we can get. Thankfully we were funded by ESDC – for 3 Students placements namely:
a) Admn Assistant
b)Social Worker;
c)Project Manager(Non Technical).
